Blue Bell Community Hub's BBQ raises £2,236 for the refurbishment fund
Wind, rain, sun, repeat…. typical winter weather during British Summertime.
The Chilli Fest may have cancelled, but the poor weather was not enough to stop the revellers of Cocking getting together to enjoy a summer BBQ on Saturday 10th August 2019.
And to be honest, the bad weather actually held off and the sun shone for most of the time.
The Blue Bell Community Hub ‘s biggest event to date saw over 200 of Cocking residents, friends and family come together to celebrate and raise funds for the ongoing Blue Bell pub renovations.
Richard Marks supplied the food; a beautiful pig who became lovingly known to the volunteers as “Peppa” and was cooked over the course of the day, allowing BBQ attendees to enjoy a beautiful hog roast sandwich that evening (in fact many enjoyed more than one!)
Children’s entertainment was provided free of charge and some fantastic clay creations were conjured up with Time Aside under Sueloo’s watchful eye……. This was a great activity, along with Face Painting from Karen at Quirky Faces that kept many of our younger guests enthralled.
Music was provided by several artists including Cockings own Martha Buchannan – all making their own stamp on this very special evening.
The Blue Bell Community Hub made a total of £2236.09 profit on the evening. A big thank you to all who attended and made this happen.
We also received some very generous donations in support of the evening, many thanks to all who made donations and special thanks to Milestones Garage and Faro Ltd.
Finally, we are very lucky in Cocking to have a group of people in the village who are all willing to get involved and help ensure that this kind of event-happens. Thank you to all the volunteers, who helped set up, run, and clear up after the event: Sueloo Brown, Geoff Thompson, Tracy Jane Thompson, Darren Lucas, Chris Malec, Emma Malec, Annie Lean, Richard Marks, Peter Craig, Easebourne Explorer Scouts, The Blue Bell Management Team, and finally to Richie Keen and Family who were pivotal in making this event happen.
See you next year
